Tasks for next meeting:
1. On "List of Participants" page, add your email address and
phone number so colleages can easily contact you. To do that,
Click your name.
Click "edit", [see tab on upper right] add your information then
click "Save" [upper right]. While there...
2. Post your schedule for the semester on your page (I just copied my
schedule from UMS, pasted it in, then just deleted irrelevant information
like student roster links.
3. Complete teaching style inventory; write about a 200 word response
to the findings. Post your response to the inventory on your page
(Complete 1, 2, 3 by October 7)
4. Select from your questions, 3-5 of your most burning questions to cue your
colleagues into what most interests you and post those question on your page
5. Review colleague's pages: their response to teaching style inventory,
and their schedules looking for compatibility in both; read your colleage's questions
6. Create (in your own head--don't post this!) a ranked list of three possible
colleagues you'd be intersted in pairing with. Since we'll be pairing up next session,
you need to have some ideas of those with whom you feel like you can work.
Please don't do this back channel before we get together.
7. Read whatever interests you on Resources page.

These document a real planning conversation I did with Prof. Mandeville. Parts 1 and 2
document the session itself; part 3 dcouments reflection on the coaching process. Using
the Planning Conversation Map, look for where each of the topics is treated (I don't
necessarily announce the move to each so you'll have to make your inference on action.)

  • Read about action research (see Resources page/Action Research)
  • Review your questions (especially the 3 most significant questions you identified) to see which are most relevant and amenable to an action research project.
This is preliminary thinking at this point; we need to have some ideas percolating to make the most of the Spring sessions and our session with Bob Garmston, in particular.
If you have opportunity to do coaching over the January session, that would be a great opportunity to maintain skills.
